The “Wheelie Pulling” 1972 Dodge Dart Swinger owned by 19-year-old Tyler Sally and his dad, Aaron Sally. We originally bought the car from our good buddy Jim Gill, in 2018. In 2021 we took the car to Greg Fleetwood with Bone Scraper Customs and did a whole different look from the original baby blue vinyl top style, to a B8 Mopar blue. He did a beautiful job. The Dart is powered by a Chrysler small block 360 (La) stroked to a 408 with a Holley 750 double pumper carburetor, dual plane intake and Hooker Competition Headers. My dad and I built the motor in the garage during the summer of 2022. Lucky for us, we have RamJet’s Speed Shop right here in Phoenix. RamJet’s was always able to provide us with any, and all parts needed. Thanks ‘Daddy-O’.

Taking all that power is a 904 Torqueflite with steep first gear out of a lock-up 904 that Sally Performance Transmissions built, an 8.75 differential from David and Henry, at Az Differential Specialist with a Moser axle, Richmond 3.91s and a Strange Spool. Nowadays in racing, everyone uses the newest of the new suspension parts for drag racing. The Dart is still equipped with the 1960’s factory super stock spring, an adjustable pinion snubber that works perfectly with the 28×10’s Hoosier slicks.

There are some people I would like to thank, first and foremost, my Dad. For everything he has done, through the journey of this car. I can’t forget my Grandpa, who started the ‘Mopar/drag racing addiction’, and of course my Dad’s business, Sally’s Performance Transmission, 623-693-1092. Also, to both of Arizona’s GREAT Dragstrips, Jim Hughes with Tucson Dragway, Tucson, AZ.- Chuck Sundstrom, ‘Cool’, and Bill Kid from Firebird Motorsports Park, Chandler AZ., for giving local racers a track to have fun at.
