I love this very special car show and vintage aircraft event that’s held annually at the Falcon Field Airport in Mesa. Falcon Field is also home to the Commemorative Air Force which restores and maintains a great collection of vintage and WW-II airplanes. It’s always neat seeing several hundred cool Hot Rods, Muscle Cars & Trucks, Classics, Sports Cars and one-of-a-kind vehicles on display, but then throw in the vintage aircraft and voila, you have a fantastic and unique event. I saw a twin-engined DC3 coming in for a landing, which is something rare indeed. The huge hangers feature an amazing display of aeronautic artifacts ranging from historical World War II airplanes, including a fully restored and ready to fly B-17 bomber. There are some vintage jets and a collection of vintage aircraft engines. The Southwest Street Rods car club does a great job of putting on this unique event. Proceeds from the show are donated to the Military Assistance Mission, check out www.azmam.org for information on this charity that helps our military veterans. The Wings & Wheels event also had a 50/50 drawing and one lucky car show participant went home with $1500.00 in cash.
