Giving a Classic Chevy Truck a New Life

Every project starts with a vision, and our new raffle is no exception. This journey began when Richard Wheeler, a new supporter of the Developmental Enrichment Center (DEC), saw our January ad seeking a project vehicle—and generously donated his classic 1960 Chevy truck.

Getting the truck from Richard to a new owner—and everything in between—takes a team. That’s where Tow Brokers steps in as our official transport partner, ensuring this ride gets exactly where it needs to go (see new ad page 15). Blair and his team will be hauling it every step of the way, from its initial assessment to its final transformation, where we will raffle it off later this year.

The first stop on this journey? Lopers Performance. Before we can plan the full revival, we need to see what it takes to get this old Chevy to fire up once again. Mike at Lopers will take a deep dive under the hood, determining whether the engine can be brought back to life or if we’ll need something new. Either way, thanks to Richard, Mike, and Blair, this truck is on its way to becoming a ride worth winning.

From there, the real transformation begins—bodywork, fresh paint, new interior, or custom work, we’re committed to making Revive A Ride something special. But we can’t do it alone! We need individuals and businesses willing to donate time, materials, and money to help bring this truck to its full potential.

One thing’s for sure—the quality work from the talented shops and professionals who advertise in Roddin’ Arizona Newspaper will be a huge bonus. Their expertise and craftsmanship will help ensure that this classic Chevy turns into a true showpiece by the time we hand over the keys.

And of course, the biggest way you can help is by purchasing raffle tickets! Not only will you have a shot at taking home this classic Chevy, but every dollar raised goes directly to supporting the incredible programs at DEC.

As we move forward, we’ll be reaching out for support— whether it’s parts, services, or contributions to get this truck road-ready for a great cause. Readers, if you have connections in the automotive industry who may want to lend a hand, please pass the word along! And to our advertisers, this is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your support for the community while getting involved in something truly special. Every contribution—big or small—helps us get one step closer to making a difference.

If you’d like to be a part of Revive-A-Ride, whether through donations, sponsorship, or spreading the word, please give us a call at 480-963-9880. Follow along every month as we track the progress of this build. Whether you donate, volunteer, or buy a ticket, you’ll be helping make a difference—one ride at a time.

Richard with the donated 1960 longbed Chevy. It sure is in great shape already!

Some of our readers already rely on Tow Brokers for towing. Thank you Blair!

The truck was towed to Mike at Lopers, where he’ll assess what we have to work with. However, the raffle truck will have to wait its turn. We’ll have more updates by the next issue!
