Walking in the Geiger Shop/Showroom is so overwhelming with the collection of automobile memorabilia as well as some mighty classic automobiles. Then as you go from area to area you see an organized layout as if you were at a classic car museum with impeccable attention to quality and presentation. The attention to detail was beyond this writer’s imagination. This is the ultimate man’s cave and yes, Mitch actually works on cars in this Home Shop!
The main seating area is soft brown leather seating in an informal boardroom layout with soft area rug underfoot with ambient lighting via shop lighting which fits the feeling you for this Man Cave. Yes, it’s a shop first and man cave second. Mitch holds meetings here with the clubs he is involved with and it’s a great place for this as it definitely gets you thinking like a motorhead.
A little story about Mitch, Wilma, his wife and he were the founders and operators 26 years of the Turlock Swap meet Spring/Fall founded 1985. This is not to be confused with the Turlock Swap meet held in January each year. Many of this writer’s friends are sellers at the Turlock Swap Meet Spring/Fall and had nothing but good things to say about the event and of course they all raved about Wilma who made things work LOL! Currently Mitch is enjoying his years working on his car projects and has become the go-to-guy for paint buffing and final finish. Black as we know is like a mirror. Looking at the black cars in his shop, they were flawless. Today with the paints and materials you have to make a paint job to get this level of perfection and level of absolute mirror reflection.
This facility includes Showroom, assembly/parts and a Man Cave all in one facility. Mitch primarily uses his facility for minor repairs, normal maintenance and of course buffing extraordinaire. Yes, the lift is in the center of the shop as it should be. The center section of the shop’s ceiling is raised to allow for taller projects on the lift for that ultimate show prep he performs on his classic collection. By the way his favorite car event is Goodguys and he knew Gary Meadors on a first name basis. If you get bored at dark thirty there is a working pinball machine to give your body a rest between those classic car tasks. He spends at least a few days each week in the shop on projects as well as those mandatory motorhead meetings we all enjoy together. You will not see any workers as Mitch does everything himself.
Mitch has had 100’s of different cars over the years and his favorite most of all was ’57 Corvette. Today his favorite ride to cruise McCulloch Blvd is his ’34 Ford Coupe, with his fellow Over the Hill Gang crew, Lake Havasu Chapter. This ride is sweet and looks like it is going 200 MPH just sitting there and of course black mirror finish. He goes to as many classic car events as he can and represents what this avocation is all about, the preservation of our rides and promoting our hobby so it can sustain itself for generations to come.
