I purchased this vehicle from a retired drag racer in 2002. Yes, it was a full race drag car. My original plan was to restore the car back to stock condition, but the Hot Rod heart in me decided to go Pro Street. Powered by an all forged 496 Stroker motor, with dual quads on a tunnel-ram, a 100-horse shot of nitrous oxide, backed by a Muncie four speed, with a Gear Vendors Overdrive. All that power hits the ground through a Chassis Works fab 9 rear-end, with 3:90 gears. I named my car “True Blue” because of the bright blue Custom mix Dupont Paint color, ‘Bright Blue’. The body is all stock except for the hole in the hood for the Tunnel Ram. The interior is also stock, except for the Hurst Ram Rod shifter, and Auto Meter Gauges.
At the 2022 Goodguys Southwest Spring Nationals, at WestWorld of Scottsdale, “True Blue” just won her Third Goodguys Award. I’m very proud of this because I put every nut, bolt, and screw from the bare body to the bare frame in her. I bought the tunnel-ram and carburetors from Ramjet’s Speed Shop. The only thing I did not do, is the show quality paint applied by Mesa Valley Collision Center.
