Dave Wallace has had a love for automobiles ever since he grew up on a farm in Indiana. His second car as a teenager was a 1950 Chevrolet 2-door Fleetline that he paid $150 for — hence his love for the Chevy Fleetline “Fastback”. One of Dave’s cool cars is a 1949 Chevrolet 2-door Fleetline Streetrod. Highly modified by Arizona Street Rods and Hot Rods by Dean, it has a 502 hp/502 ci GM crate “big block” linked to a 5-speed Tremec tranny and a 9 inch Curie rear-end with 3.50 gears. It also has a power assisted Heidt rack-and-pinion front-end, Ride Tech air suspension, Vintage A/C, Wilwood disc brakes and Schott custom wheels. Body modifications include mini-tubbed rear fenders, a 2 ½” “pancaked” hood, and 2” dropped spindles. The mostly original interior was upgraded by Bell Auto Upholstery with leather seats and custom headliner and door panels, and includes electric windows and a multi-speaker sound system with a sub-woofer. Dave’s stunningly black Chevy Fleetline was recently featured in an issue of Modern Rodding magazine and is an award winner at a recent Goodguys car show event in Scottsdale, AZ.
