Territorial Days Car Show
Chino Valley, AZ • by Chris Addington
The Chino Valley Territorial Days Car Show is a newer local event aimed at raising funds to maintain the Chino Valley 9/11 Memorial, dedicated to first responders and active-duty military from Yavapai County, who died in the line of duty. The memorial’s centerpiece is a beam from the fallen Twin Towers. Both pre-registration and day-of registration were available. Pre-registration made parking easy for me, with separate parking for preregistered and day-of entries. Arriving at 7:45 a.m., I received a goodie bag with a T-shirt, Roddin’AZ paper, and more. The venue, with both trees and paved areas, accommodated about 95 vehicles, with room for more. The $35 entry fee was reasonable, limited to pre-1975 vehicles (changing to pre-1976 next year). The event featured music, a PA system, food vendors, and raffle prizes. Awards were presented to winners as they drove past the announcer, and ended around 1:30p.m., allowing participants to beat the heat. It raised $2,500 in support of our first responders and military. We salute them!
