Brian Macy, based in Lake Havasu City, is the owner of Horsepower Connection, a specialty home-based shop focused on electronic fuel injection (EFI) programming and dyno tuning. Established in 2004 out of his passion for racing and performance, Brian’s shop is a reflection of his deep love for the car and boat culture. Whether it’s street machines, drag strip rockets, or high-performance boats, Horsepower Connection handles EFI conversions, full installs, parts, wiring, dyno calibration, and even chassis work.
Known locally as the “EFI wizard,” Brian is the go-to expert for diagnosing and resolving complex EFI issues. He works with all the major EFI systems including FAST, Holley, Edelbrock, FuelTech, Haltech, Accel DFI, and BigStuff3. One of his standout offerings is remote tuning—Brian can log in online, access your system, and tune your ride from miles away. This service has become a big part of his business and reputation. In a world where EFI systems are constantly evolving—sometimes monthly—Brian keeps up and keeps his clients running at their best.
The shop caters to race cars, hot rods, Corvettes, muscle cars, fast boats, and just about anything with a domestic V8. It’s located next to Brian’s home, where he and two team members keep projects moving. Most of his business comes by referral and through a strong social media presence on Facebook and Instagram. Word’s out—Brian is the guy to call for EFI tuning in the western U.S.
A major influence on Brian’s journey was Walt Austin (RIP), NHRA racer and the patriarch of Walt Austin Racing (WAR). His legacy lives on in Brian’s shop, which is filled with high-performance machines—like Brian’s own twin-turbo small-block Nova, which runs 7.70 at 180 MPH on C16 race fuel. His newest engine project, the “Brad 8 Hemi” small block running on alcohol, has been 15 years in the making—and it’s damn fast.
Brian’s skills also extended to one of the most unique builds in hot rodding history: Ferrambo. Built by Divers Street Rods in Washington State, Ferrambo is a 1960 Rambler American powered by a repurposed Ferrari 360 Modena drivetrain and managed by a MoTeC ECU, wired by Brian himself. The car won the coveted 2008 Riddler Award and now resides at the LeMay Car Museum in Tacoma, Washington.
A walk through Horsepower Connection reveals a full machine shop and some rare gems—like a vintage distributor machine that’s hard to find these days. You’ll also see really fast boats where superchargers are the norm, not the exception. This local operation is a true treasure—especially in today’s performance world where EFI dominates—and Brian Macy remains the West Coast’s go-to guy for all things electronic and fast.
