Tony and his Tempe Speed & Performance shop specializes in doing General Motors LS based engine and transmission conversions. Here are several recent examples. A ‘57 Chevy Nomad had its small block engine and 700R4 transmission removed by Tempe Speed and they have installed a new 6.2 liter LS3 crate engine and a 4L70E automatic overdrive transmission. All the required wiring and plumbing are part of the conversion. A 1964 Ford F-100 pickup also received a 6.2 liter LS3 engine and this one also gets twin Precision turbos with hidden (fender area) inter-coolers. The truck sits on a 1996 Buick Roadmaster chassis, that the shop has upgraded with QA1 upper & lower tubular control arms and other QA1 front and rear suspension upgrades. It also gets all new Wilwood disc brakes and new Dakota Digital gauges. In the recent past, a 1974 Chevy 4×4 Blazer was converted to a 6.0 liter LS engine, now it’s back to have twin Precision turbos installed. On the very unique engine conversion side, a 1988 Toyota Supra will soon be powered by a 6.2 liter LS3 V-8 with 6 speed Tremec manual transmission.
