Tempe Speed & Performance

For at least two decades, Tempe Speed & Performance in Tempe has been doing engine and transmission conversions as their shop specialty. They’ve done Ford or Chevy engines into Fords, Chevy engines into Mopars, into International Scouts, into Pontiacs, into Jaguars and some others, and of course many Chevys into other Chevys. Some of those engine swaps were small block or big block engines, but the vast majority continue to be General Motors 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 or 6.2 liters LS and now even the newest LT-based engines. Working with these modern engines requires knowledge and experience working with their sophisticated computers, fuel injection systems, and fuel delivery and engine management systems. Tempe Speed often creates their own custom made engine wiring harness for each individual vehicle’s requirements. When they do these engine swaps, there are usually a lot of other upgrades that the customer wants, such as new digital gauges, complete front to rear vehicle wiring, adding aftermarket air conditioning, adding disc brakes, suspension upgrades and a long list of other performance enhancements. Fitting the new engine and transmission and linking all the computers and adding any new required plumbing and cooling is not a job that many shops can do, let alone do it as a house specialty like Tempe Speed & Performance does.
