Several months ago Brian Pridemore did some electrical work on my ’57 Ford Ranch Wagon. I was very impressed with his knowledge and professionalism in fixing my car’s problems. Recently I drove my ’78 Chevrolet Nova, I had started it multiple times with no issues, until l stopped at a garage sale right down the street. When i wanted to start it to go home, it was completely dead, no cranking no sounds just dead. The Interstate battery had given no indications of problems so l knew it wasn’t the battery. I thought it must be ignition or neutral safety switch related. After pushing the car home, I removed the shifter cover and then removed the neutral safety switch, but after that l had no clue on what or how to fix the problem. The Nova was now DOA in my driveway, so i called Brian and as it turned out he was not that far away and was able to come out the same day. He dove in there with his tools and instruments and discovered that the car’s original neutral safety switch was in use, not the one on the Hurst shifter. He diagnosed that it was still working, but there was a problem with the alignment which caused the no-start situation. He said it would probably happen again, so he properly wired in the Hurst shifter’s neutral safety switch and now the Nova starts perfectly. Brian and Pridemore MotorSports is a mobile automotive electrical service company. He’s amazing at diagnosing and repairing these types of electrical gremlins, but does much more. He can design and install complete custom-made automotive electrical harnesses and even re-wire the complete vehicle. For valley-wide service, call Brian at Pridemore MotorSports at 303-944-7645. Please mention Roddin’ & Racin’ when you call.
