Have l mentioned that I’m a certified CAR NUT BALL? Oh I guess I have, except for the certified part. Over the last few months, I’ve talked about my brand-new to me 1978 Chevy Nova and last month I had already changed my mind about it being my daily driver car. We’ll Car Nut Ball me has now decided that the great running but wimpy 140 horsepower 305 V-8 just won’t cut it as a Street/Strip cruiser. So, the car is now powered by a 350 horsepower 355 cubic inch small block V-8. I still drag race as part of the team Wild Horse and Tucson Dragway Summit Racing Series bracket races. The new combo includes a Hughes Performance 3000 stall converter, but I haven’t done anything with the 2.46 rearend gears yet. I’m thinking a 3.50 gear and posi or mini spool will really help at the drags and still be somewhat freeway friendly. My Car Nut Ball part is not a joke, as several people have already expressed their surprise that I still have the Nova. I’ve told them that I realize I’m crazy and that I need to keep something long-term and this little Nova is it. Every one of them said we’ll see??? OUCH!!! Just for the record, I’ve had the ’57 Ford 2 door Ranch Wagon for almost five years and the ’56 Chevy for over 2.5 years.
