By November we are usually enjoying the beautiful fall weather, but as of the 4th week of October we are still dealing with stupid hot weather that seems like it will never end. 2024 will probably go down in history as the hottest in Arizona recorded history. Sadly, in my opinion, that record won’t last for very long, if recent years are any indication. The exciting thing about right now, especially if you’re a Car Guy or Car Gal after the brutal summer that we’ve just gone through, is that awesome car related events are starting to take place all over the metro Phoenix area and there are still lots of car events in the high country as well. I attended the Dino’s Git Down event for the first time last year and was blown away by the incredible turnout of trucks and cars. I’d always heard that there were several thousands of vehicles, but simply didn’t believe it. Dang was l ever wrong, there were indeed thousands of Chevrolet, GMC and even some other brands of trucks at the gigantic State Farm Stadium parking areas. Once I got over the shock of that many vehicles on display, l then walked through the amazing venders area. There were literally hundreds of local and national companies there showcasing their products and services. Oh, and did I mention that this event is FREE for the vehicle owners and spectators. Then, the very next week, is the fabulous Goodguys event in Scottsdale, where again there will be several thousands of cool cars, trucks and one-of-a-kind vehicles on display, plus their huge Swap-Meet and vendor displays. For me, in my never ending Car Nut Ball saga, I’ve sold all of the V-8 Chevy S10 build items, and will soon be building a 1978 Camaro as my dedicated Bracket Racer car. When l found out that the 2025 NHRA Summit Racing Series Division 7 Bracket Finals would be held right here at Firebird Motorsports Park, I decided that I want to put in a maximum effort to race in 2025 and having a purpose built car would be my best chance. The car will be a BUDGET BUILT not pretty or fancy BRACKET RACER.
