Air-cooled VW’s are what Dougs Buggs in Mesa specializes in. They do everything from engine and transmission rebuilding to complete Service Dept. work and have a great Parts Dept. too. Here are a few recent examples; a 1975 to 1979 2 liter VW Bus engine is being prepped for a new Holley Sniper EFI (2 barrel). Some custom fabrication is required to complete the project. On an engine stand is a 1600 dual-port engine, that has been fitted with several performance upgrades, it will soon be installed into a 1958 VW Beatle convertible. Its not the stock engine and a non-stock later model trans-axle will also be installed. This project requires some specialized measuring and fabrication to accomplish. Out in the Service Dept. a 1966 VW is receiving a new drop spindles for a lower stance and a disc brake conversion. A very unique 1959 Porsche Speedster fiberglass replica, has been in storage for over 10 years. The Dougs Buggs techs are doing what ever is required to bring the car back to a safe and reliable cruiser again.
