Doug’s Buggs n Bunnys

Air-cooled VW service, engine building, and parts have been the focus at Dougs Buggs for many decades. Shown here are some recent examples. A very unique electric-powered oval window VW was completely built in-house with cooperation from Copperstar EV. This car features a 120-horsepower Hyper 9 electric motor, Tesla batteries, and a full front-mounted control system. A 1959 Porsche Speedster replica had its 2056cc 914 engine fully rebuilt at Dougs Buggs. Several other fully rebuilt VW performance engines were also waiting to be picked up by their owners.

Out in the service area, a green 1971 VW Super Beetle was receiving general maintenance and a carburetor upgrade. A red 1964 VW Beetle is undergoing suspension upgrades and lowering. An orange VW Baja rally car is in the process of a complete in-house custom build, which includes a freshly built 2000cc dual carb engine and other rally-related upgrades. This is a family’s longtime heirloom vehicle, trusted to Dougs Buggs. Another red 1964 VW Beetle is receiving a full suspension upgrade, new wheels, conversion to a Porsche bolt pattern, and new tires. A 1972 VW bus is in the finishing stages of a full bumper-to-bumper in-house build that features a new custom interior and paint job.

Across the parking lot, the Honey Bunnies Café is almost ready to open. The official opening will be Saturday, October 11, during the Cars & Coffee grand opening from 8 a.m. to noon.
