I wrote about my new to me ‘78 Chevy Nova last month, and l mentioned that it needed air conditioning and a stereo. Marty and his technicians at Arizona Hot Rod installed the new Master Cold (Florida) A/C system. This is a basic underdash system and my experience with them, has been that they work sort of OK, but are not super cold in the dead of summer, not like our late model vehicle A/C is. So, l went for the bigger 22,000-BTU system that features a much bigger evaporator unit that is the actual under-dash part where the air enters your vehicle. Marty and his guys did a very professional job of installing this A/C system, which included moving the alternator to the driver’s side of the engine and lots of other misc. steps. When you open the hood, all of the wires and relays have been installed in such a way, that it looks like factory air. The new larger condenser has twin 9” electric fans. I’m very happy to report, that the new A/C system blows nice and cold with great air volume and it’s much quieter than the other under-dash systems l remember. The shop was also busy working on a way cool 1955 Chevy Nomad. This car is receiving a serious Restomod upgrade build. The shop is installing a brand new GM Performance Connect & Cruise 6.2 liter LS3 engine with 525 horsepower and a 6L80E automatic overdrive transmission. That engine/ trans conversion required modifications to the firewall and transmission tunnel. They are also installing power rack & pinion steering, all new American Auto Wire wiring from front to rear, a Dakota Digital drop-in gauge cluster full of modern electronic gauges. An all-new four-link rear suspension is also part of this Nomad’s transformation along with the scores of other required jobs. A beautiful 1948 Chevy custom built pickup truck, will soon be receiving a completely new full custom-created leather interior. The Custom Stitching Company 480-229-1214 (same location) will use a Glide brand bare metal bench seat frame as the starting point for the custom bolstered foam and custom leather. Matching door panels, kick panels, headliner, and custom-made square weave German carpet and matching custom floor mats are all part of this amazing truck’s new custom interior. These are three great examples of the work you can have done at Arizona Hot Rod 480-229-0327 or The Custom Stitching Co. 480-229-1214 in Apache Junction, AZ.
