A DECEMBER TO REMEMBER
Let’s just say, two trips to the ER for serious chest pain, which, fortunately, turned out NOT to be heart-related. However, the diagnosis of a bad gallbladder was a huge surprise. What was supposed to be a fairly simple outpatient surgery was scheduled for Friday, December 13th. Now, Friday the 13th didn’t faze me—it’s just a date, right? But when the supposed four hour outpatient visit spiraled into emergency surgery and four unexpected days in the hospital, well, that was no
walk in the park.
As I write this on December 23rd, I’m still far from fully recovered. The 6-inch scar across my upper stomach is a daily reminder that no matter how prepared—or unprepared—we are, life has its own plans. It’s a humbling experience that teaches you to slow down, appreciate health, and be grateful for the people and moments that truly matter.
