It was time once again for the annual Tortilla Flats Rally. Every year my buddy— and local hot rod guru—Chip Quinn hosted a killer day on the road, heading uphill toward the lake. It was always a great time and consistently drew some of the city’s coolest, true-blue traditional hot rods.
The rally kicked off in Phoenix, with two additional pickup points along the way—first in Tempe, then a final stop in Mesa—before everyone rallied up the hill together. It was one of those perfectly sized events. Nothing over the top, yet it had all the elements of a great day. This was not a trailer-queen deal. The rally was for the guys and gals who drove their rods regularly, and because of that, the people you met—and the conversations around the lunch table—were one of the best parts of the day, year after year.
For those already looking ahead, the next Tortilla Flats Rally is slated for January 2, 2027. More information was available on Facebook via Chip Quinn.
