I’ve been writing this column for 36 years, and I’m excited to share something that truly matters.
A few years ago, I sold the paper to Jeff Nagy, planning to stay on for six months. But Jeff, Chris, Lucy, and the entire Roddin’ Arizona team are such great people that I’m still proud to be part of this family.
Now, we have a big project: George donated a 1960 Chevy truck to raise money for the Developmental Enrichment Center (DEC), a nonprofit that helps adults with developmental disabilities live more independently through day programs, residential services, and community activities. You can learn more at DEC-az.org.
The goal is to restore this truck and auction it off at Bee’s Auctions in 2026, with all proceeds going to DEC. It’s a real fixer-upper. So far, the engine was checked at Loper’s Speed—compression is 45 PSI, and it’s beyond saving. We don’t even know the condition of the brakes, electrical, or suspension yet.
That’s why we’re calling on our amazing community. If you can help with parts, labor, or ideas, let us know. Your shop will be recognized in Roddin’ Arizona and at events—and we’ll include you in every article update on this build. You’ll join supporters like Loper’s, Bee’s, and Tow Brokers in making this project happen.
