The 1940 Ford Truck, owned by Armando and Gerry Ann, is a beautifully crafted classic with modern upgrades. Powered by a Ford 351 Windsor engine and a 3-speed manual transmission, it features a Holly 750 Dual Feed carburetor. The truck’s deep glossy black fenders contrast with its satin black body, highlighted by red pinstriping. This two-tone appearance is enhanced by red steel wheels with beauty rings and Ford V8 hubcaps.
The 1940 Ford Truck was a design milestone, mirroring the era’s car styling with fender-mounted headlights. Armando’s truck stays true to its roots with stock mirrors, a chrome front bumper overrider, and a rare “40” white Arizona plate. Under the hood, the Thunderbird-sourced 351 Windsor engine, painted bright red to match the pinstriping, is a showpiece with gloss black valve covers and a satin black air cleaner.
The interior is functional and classic, with stock metal door panels, a tan pleather bench seat, and black carpet mats over rubber flooring. The art deco dashboard and detailed steering wheel maintain vintage charm, while modern shoulder belts enhance safety. The bed, crafted from repurposed oak and finished with marine varnish, showcases Armando’s woodworking skills. A refurbished WWII vintage footlocker with “Miss Treated” artwork adds a unique touch.
Armando, a retired craftsman from Cuba, has owned this truck for seven years, turning it into a piece of art. Acquired from Oklahoma, the truck’s restoration journey had its challenges, but the result is a testament to Armando’s meticulous attention to detail. Next on his list? A ’55 Nomad, which promises to be another masterpiece.

Bob and Linda Frisch’s 1940 Ford Panel Delivery, based in Prescott, is a beautifully restored classic with modern enhancements. Powered by a Chevy V8 350 engine and a Chevy 700 R4 transmission, this vehicle boasts a striking two-tone commercial look with PPG Deltron paint in Slanted Brown and Makena Sand, soon to be pinstriped. The black grille, chrome accents, black steel wheels with chrome caps, and Coker whitewall tires complete its vintage charm.
Ford’s original 1940 design features smooth, rounded contours with perfect symmetry. The interior showcases an art-deco dashboard with a 180-degree, 120 MPH speedometer, dual wipers, visors, ashtrays, and a clock in the glove box. Bob has updated the cargo area with carpet, replacing the original steel skid strips, while maintaining the spacious dual rear doors for easy access.
Upgrades include a “Fat Boy” chassis with power rack-and-pinion steering, power disc brakes up front, and drum brakes in the rear on a 9” Ford differential. Dual exhausts with electrical cutouts add a touch of flair. The engine bay is impeccably detailed, featuring a finned air cleaner and center bolt aluminum valve covers.
Inside, leather bench seats with pleats, a banjo steering wheel with a swan neck shifter, and a high-quality Panasonic sound system with four speakers and Dynamat sound deadening create a blend of classic and modern luxury.
Bob, a lifelong car enthusiast, began his journey with a ‘63½ Ford Galaxy and a ’69 Ford Torino 428 Cobra CJ. After moving to Prescott, he and Linda took on this ’40 Panel Delivery as a project, investing far more than anticipated. As active members of the BRO’s car club, they enjoy the classic car community, with Bob’s dream of owning a ’70 Chevelle SS 454 with LS6 still on the horizon.
