PRK Automotive in Mesa specializes in doing General Motors LS and LT based engine swaps. They always have interesting vehicles in the shop, here are a few recent examples. A 1994 Chevy S-10 pickup has been converted to 5.3 LS power, including a single TDI turbocharger system. The job includes all required fabrication, modifications, exhaust work, electrical etc. The transmission is a Turbo 400, hooked to a GM 12 bolt posi rearend. The truck is basically set up for drag racing. This is an all in-house custom build. A 1963 Corvette Split-Window is being converted to a Restomod. It’s getting a modern Corvette LS3 V-8 and GM 4L65 six speed automatic overdrive transmission. New Dakota Digital gauges, new Baer disc brakes, new coil-over suspension and American Auto Wire wiring are also part of this unique build. A ‘56 Ford up on a lift, is getting new Mustang II front suspension with a rack and pinion steering upgrade. The new engine is a GM 5.3 liter LS with 4L60 AOD transmission. It too gets new Dakota Digital gauges and American Auto Wire wiring. The new rear end is a 9” Ford with a four-link setup. Wilwood disc brakes on all four corners will handle the stopping. Below the ‘56 Ford, is a 1976 Camaro that’s being converted into a nasty Street/ Strip Muscle Car. The new engine is a 6.0 liter LS, that’s been stroked to 408 cubic inches and fed by twin turbos. The trans. is a beefed-up 4L80E leading back to a 9” Ford rearend. Oh, and the 1000+ horsepower engine will have a Vintage Air A/C system plumbed in too. A 1967 Cadillac Coupe DeVille is receiving a complete rebuild of its original 429 cubic inch V-8. The Turbo 400 transmission is also being rebuilt. Some wiring system upgrades are also on tap.
