The Second Saturday of May, a gathering of Hot Rodders, Classics, Customs, Trucks and Friends hosted the Motsy’s Memorial Car Show so those that knew him could pay tribute to his legacy. This year there the Mosty’s Memorial Car Show was well attended and those who knew him came to pay tribute to a real Motorhead. The gathering of Motorheads was held at the Shopping Center on Iron Springs, Prescott. This year’s location was a home run. There are plenty of places to go, places to eat, places in the shade, comfortable parking and very clean. His daughter and family put this together in helping fellow Motorheads helping Motorheads. If you are a Trophy Hound this is not your event, sure there were awards, 6 total not bad for a few hundred participants but awards based on koolness not Billet to the Nth degree almost a Motorhead appreciation day as John “Motsy” Motshagen would have done it! The event has numerous Raffle items, Money Drawing, Prizes and Vendors who did a great job offering their wares to the participants and spectators. Thank you and Kudos go out to ‘The Windsock” for being the event anchor sponsor and allowing their eatery/refreshing drinks open to the spectators and Participants. “The Mountain”, 93.9 provided music throughout the day and did some live remote for the event.
A little background to the event. John “Motsy” Motshagen was an avid car show attendee, Motorhead, he was constantly buying, selling, building, and trading cars. From roadsters, Model T’s, 900 HP Camaros, more pick-up trucks than you can believe. Actually, his current ride was on display to share and appreciate this local legacy Motorhead. He finally got the truck he loved and showed it in every event possible. Motsy was the type of guy who knew everyone, if only a little bit, but he met and talked with anyone who would talk cars. So many car owners would brag they “… had a guy …”, Motsy was that guy! He loved to work on “problems” and solving problems only to hear is purr like a kitten. Motsy left us too early in December of 2021, he was everyone’s friend. Always open-minded, willing to try new things, and gave it his best efforts every time. This show and the Veteran’s Training Kitchen are both in tribute to the Motorhead, Navy’s Corpsman, true gentleman, father, husband, brother, uncle, and son … a friend you could rely on to tell you the truth, but be the first to jump in.
There are a ton of Motorhead guys like Motsy, but none the same. This show was to memorialize him, keep his legacy alive, and shine it onto the others who pull their clubs into events, show up, jump in, and lend a hand. Those are the guys who keep the culture healthy and growing.
