Wow… I’ve been on one long vacation. We spent 2 and 1/2 months in Seattle this summer and also dealing with some health issues with my wife. Not really a constant attention thing but closer attention for sure. So, back to work and cars.

I just got back from the Goodguys show and turnout was okay. Whenever the economy starts to dip like it is, the little guy or the blue collar guys just don’t have the ability to “take chances” with the family’s income. Instead they polish the ole hotrod and take time to go to the weekend cruises and car shows.

There have been a number of estates I have been called into to square up the values of some cool cars. A great 57 Belair and a 59 Corvette and some court work over values and disagreements between the two camps.

One great car that I did was an old customer that has an almost completed new “rat rod”. It is a 1949 Studebaker pickup with the Stude long bed. I have seen some of his “creations” in the past but this one has some classic workmanship. Flat out the thing that made me laugh was that he welded a rather large pipe wrench to the rear utility bumper. It looks like he just plain forgot to move it before he took off for a joyride. So you can just imagine people honking and waving at him to let him know. You know this is just cracking him up!

The truck is great and really deserves you taking the time to see the many innovations he has worked into this crazy hot rod. His exhaust is a big 3” with his cans are called “Neighbor Haters”. Honestly I looked them up on the internet. When he fired that thing off it made instant sense where they got the name. Great job out there in Apache Junction… I applaud your innovative ole school build. Thanks for letting me appraise the 49’.
